Iran reps sweep 7 awards at Bosphorus filmfest

7 Iranian flicks awarded at Turkish festival

Iranian competitors have snatched 7 awards at the 5th International Bosphorus Film Festival in Istanbul, Turkey.

‘Malaria’ bagged 4 prizes, while ‘Beyond the clouds’ and 'Retouch' won 2 and 1 prizes, respectively.

Directed by Parviz Shahbazi, ‘Malaria’ won the awards in the competition sections of ‘Best Film’, ‘Best Director’, ‘Best Screenplay’ and ‘Best Actress in a Leading Role’.

Ehsan Khater won the ‘Best Actor in a Leading Role’ for ‘Beyond the Clouds’ by Majid Majidi. Khater presented his prize to his mother, Neleema Azeem (actress) and Majid Majidi. He called Majidi an astonishing master and a full-fledged myth. He thanked Majidi for trusting him and giving him the lead role in his movie, as Khater’s first experience.

‘Beyond the Clouds’ also received the prize for ‘Best Editing’ for the artistic dexterity of Hassan Hassandoust.

Also, ‘Retouch’, directed by Kaveh Mazaheri, received the ‘Best Short Film’ Award in the international competition section.

More than 3400 movies from 102 countries were participating in the festival, which kicked off on November 17, and wrapped up on November 26, 2017.
